Frequently Answered Questions
What is liquid metal?
Liquid metal is a real metal coating made by combining metal powder with a binder, allowing it to be applied like a surface finish. Once applied and polished, it behaves like solid metal, including natural aging and patina.
Is liquid metal the same as paint?
No. Liquid metal is not a metallic paint. Unlike metallic paints, that contains pigments, liquid metal is comprised of actual metal and forms a thin metal layer on the surface after application.
What surfaces can this be applied to?
Liquid metal can be applied on any surface including, but not limited to, walls, doors, ceilings, furniture, shutters, cabinets, exteriors, facades, artwork and more.
What substrates can liquid metal be applied on?
It can be applied to a wide range of substrates including wood, MDF, metal, glass, plastic, concrete, and more, as long as the surface is properly prepared and primed.
Who can use your products?
Our systems are designed for professional applicators, fabricators, and workshops with experience in surface finishing, spraying, or decorative coatings.
Do you provide application services?
No. Surface Craft USA is a material supplier only. We supply liquid metal kits and systems; we do not provide on-site application or installation.
Do I need special equipment?
Most standard equipment such as spray guns, trowel, brushes, rollers, sanding tools, and polishing machines can be used. No specialized machinery is required beyond typical finishing tools.
Is training required to use liquid metal?
While not mandatory, training or prior experience in special finish application is strongly recommended to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
Can liquid metal be used outdoors?
Yes, when applied correctly and sealed with an appropriate topcoat, it can be used for exterior applications.
Will the finish change over time?
Yes. Since it is real metal, it can naturally oxidize or develop patina over time. This effect can be controlled or prevented using sealers or protective coatings.
What finishes can be achieved?
A wide range of finishes are possible, including polished, brushed, textured, patinated, matte, or high-gloss surfaces.
Do you offer custom finishes or colors?
We supply material systems in different metal types. Final finish and appearance depend on the applicator’s technique, polishing, and treatment process.
Do you ship across the USA?
Yes. All orders are shipped across the United States from our warehouse in Oklahoma.
How much area does one kit cover?
Coverage depends on application method, surface condition, and technique. For spray applications, coverage typically varies per kit and should be confirmed based on your system and project.
Can I return or exchange products?
Due to the specialized nature of our materials, all sales are final. However, if your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and we’ll assist you.
How do I get started?
You can start by ordering a kit based on your project requirements. If you’re unsure, reach out to our team; we can guide you on selecting the right system.
